As you are no doubt already aware, an amendment to DIN EN ISO 9001 has been published.
The reason for this amendment is that climate change is to be given greater consideration in all management standards. To this end, the management system standards have been supplemented by so-called ‘amendments’. The amendments to take account of climate change also affect DIN EN ISO 9001.
Adjustments were made to sections 4.1 and 4.2 of DIN EN ISO 9001. The general objective of the requirements in these sections remains the consideration of all internal and external aspects that have a direct influence on business activities. The additions in the amendment are intended to ensure that climate change is taken into account when considering these aspects.
DIN EN ISO 9001/A1
Quality management systems – Requirements – Amendment 1: Climate action changes (ISO 9001:2015/Amd 1:2024); English version EN ISO 9001:2015/A1:2024 English translation of DIN EN ISO 9001/A1:2024-11
The following changes have been made:
Section 4.1: Add the following sentence at the end of the subclause:
„The organization shall determine whether climate change is a relevant issue.“
Section 4.2: Add the following note at the end of the subclause:
„NOTE Relevant interested parties can have requirements related to climate change“
DIN EN ISO 9001 does not provide for a transition period for implementing the changes. The expanded requirements for taking climate change into account must be implemented immediately and taken into account by auditors in DIN EN ISO 9001 audits with immediate effect.
