In the capital of THE LÄND,
it's the second glance that counts!

Stuttgart

The first glance is at the “city of seven hills”. Some locals call it the “San Francisco of Germany” with a smile on their lips due to the hills and a suspension bridge on the Neckar, which is called the “Golden Gatele” because of its resemblance to the original.

But Stuttgart is not only hilly, it is also exciting and beautiful. Stuttgart is rich in culture, offers famous museums, a full calendar of events and to say it in Swabian – heilig’s Blechle – it’s also a great place to party, for example at the Cannstatter Wasen, the second largest folk festival in Germany. To brew their fresh beers, the local breweries utilise the excellent quality of the water from the many natural springs. With 19 springs, Stuttgart is the city with the largest mineral water resources in Western Europe. More than 22 million litres of mineralised and partly carbonated water gush out of them every day. Wine drinkers also get their fill in the Stuttgart region. Two thousand years ago, the Romans brought the grapevine with them. Having grown up in the vineyards around Stuttgart, young winegrowers have now taken over. They have preserved tradition and combined it with innovation, making many wineries in the region world-famous for their top wines. In one of Germany’s leading gourmet regions, traditional dishes such as lentils and spaetzle, roast onion and Maultaschen and Schupfnudeln are a must. The world’s best pretzel can also be found here.

In Stuttgart, you have to look beyond the edge of your own plate and beyond the edge of the “Kessel” to realise what Stuttgart has to offer. This is why the television tower is considered the city’s landmark. Almost everything that can be seen with the naked eye from a height of one hundred and fifty metres is also worth seeing: for example, the medieval town of Esslingen and the baroque city of Ludwigsburg. To the north is the Schiller city of Marbach, to the east the Rems Valley and to the south the Schönbuch Nature Park. You just have to take a good look – in the region with the wide horizon.

Stuttgart is usually love at second sight, but it lasts a lifetime.
